Student Loan Forgiveness

Student Loan Forgiveness

You may not know that there are ways to actually have your loan balance forgiven. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it’s true. The government has outlined a few programs to forgive the balance on loans for some borrowers.

If you have been making payments for years and meet certain eligibility requirements, you too can have your loan balance forgiven. It is important to note that these forgiveness programs do come with some considerations.

The Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program was designed to forgive the remaining loan balance of those who work in public service jobs. The idea is to encourage individuals to continue into the public service field that is often lacking in a higher level of pay, by forgiving debt balances after 120 qualifying payments have been made.

The Teacher Loan Forgiveness  (TLF)  program offers loan forgiveness to teachers that have served for at least five consecutive years in certain schools, fields of instruction or service agencies. Eligible borrowers could have their loan balance forgiven for up to a total of $17,500.

Both of these programs provide a unique opportunity for many suffering at the hands of a lower paying job with a high student loan balance. The student loan lawyers at the Pew Law Center want to help you  find forgiveness for your loan. We are the Valley’s Premier Student Debt Advocates!
